The Girl's Game is growing
The new North East Wales Girls Football League was launched in 2020 and is providing football from U-7s to U-13s at present.
Football is the most popular team sport played in Wales and it continues to grow year on year. The FAW target of 20000 girls playing football by 2024 is fast approaching and we are working with Clubs in our area to increase female participation. We believe it's not just about football and the festivals are a platform for the girls to have fun and make friends, but its not just for the players! The festivals are officiated by our area newly qualified young referees. This assists them in gaining valuable experience not just with refereeing but with the female game.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the team volunteer managers and coaches who give up their time in all weathers. The impact they have on these young lives is overwhelming and to them we say thank you.
