Current NEWFA Council members of the North Wales Women's Football League Executive Committee are: -
Mr M. Hack (Chairman), Mr. G. Lloyd (Treasurer) and Mr. J. Bloor (Welfare).
In 2003 it was decided to form a women's football competition comprising of teams from NEWFA and NWCFA. Three Council Members from each Association (M. Hack, G. Lloyd and B. Roberts from NEWFA) decided to run a Cup competition. It was to be known as The Betty Pickering Cup and was donated by the NEWFA Chairman of that time Mr. Don Pickering in memory of his late wife. The inaugural winners were Corwen Ladies.
Following the success of this competition, it was decided to form The North Wales Women's League the following season. The first two seasons Pwllheli Ladies won the League and Cup double. Since then the League has been won by Colwyn Bay Ladies and our very own Wrexham Ladies.
The NW Women's Football League has (or has had) the following teams in it since its inception: Caernarfon Ladies, Cefn Ladies, Colwyn Bay Ladies, Kimnel Bay, Llandudno Junction, Llangefni (who later became Amlwch), Pwllheli Ladies and Wrexham Ladies.
In 2007/08 it was decided to hold a Shield Competition for teams who were knocked out of the early rounds of the Betty Pickering Cup. This not only gave teams another chance of winning a trophy but also resulted in more games for the ladies. The inaugural winners were Llandudno Junction Ladies. This season it was decided to invite Denbigh Ladies and Buckley Ladies to participate in the Cup competitions, and they both agreed, hopefully both teams will join the NWWFL next season.

News - Wales Give Sweden A Match
The Wales women's side gave a great display in the 2011 FIFA World Cup Qualifier at Airbus UK Broughton FC.
The 4-0 scoreline to Sweden did Wales very little justice on a night when the weather did it's best to ruin the game, with rain, snow and wind all playing a part in a difficult night for more than 500 supporters.
The scores were level at half time, but Sweden always looked the stronger side. Wales, threw everything at the visitors, but failed to take the odd chance that came their way. In the second 45 minutes, Sweden showed their superior fitness and strength and pulled-away on a pitch that was becoming heavier by the minute.
At the end, defeat, but manager Adrian Tucker can take many positives from the two games over the last four days, including the 3-2 win in Belgium on Sunday.
Despite atrocious weather a crowd of nearly 600 turned up to watch the match, including many local schoolchildren with 22 girls each acting as a mascot for a player. It was filmed by S4C and reported on by local media. Visitors included officials from FIFA, UEFA, the Welsh FA, and the Swedish FA, including the president of the Swedish FA, as well as local councillors. Paul said: "The event went extremely well and a small presentation was made to the football club of a wooden plaque which will take pride of place in the Sports Pavilion to commemorate the event. The comments made by the Welsh FA were that we had done the company, the Welsh FA, sport in Flintshire and the country proud. "We were also thanked by the Swedish delegation for our hospitality. There is some possibility that we may be chosen for further internationals in the future, which would be another great coup for the area.
North Wales Women's League
League Cup Final's played at Brymbo on Sunday 23rd May 2010
On the hottest day of the year so far it was 28°C in Wrexham - so my calculations tell me that it must have been just above freezing at The Crick!! A good sized crowd of 150+ watched both games and enjoyed the Football fayre on offer.
The first game played was The Shield Final between Wrexham and Denbigh which Wrexham won 2-0 thanks to two absolute screamers from Lowrie Edwards which would have graced any Final.
Referee: Martin Williams. Assistants: Rob Cochrane and Liam Postle.
The second game of the day saw the Final of The Betty Pickering Memorial Challenge Cup between Caernarfon and Northop Hall which ended in a 4-2 victory to Caernarfon. Both teams observed a minutes silence before the game as a mark of respect following the recent death of former NEWFA Chairman and Bala Town stalwart Don Pickering who had donated this trophy in memory of his late wife Betty.
Referee: Maria Pascoe. Assistants: John Jones and Lewis Evans.
Special mention must go to both Denbigh and Northop Hall for reaching Finals in their first season in the North Wales League. Thanks to Ken Hughes, John Hughes and Peris Jones for attending on behalf of NEWFA.
