BPA LIFT CUP
A very strong Borras Park Albion side emeged as the NEWFA Under 16 Cup winners against their younger opponents from Buckley Town. As in the previous night in the U14's Cup Final there was another Brymbo "hurricane" blowing as the teams took to the field!!
But the wind didn't affect the way the teams went about playing football, with both sides doing their very best to get the ball down and pass it. Borras had the best of the early exchanges but Josh Atkin the Buckley keeper was looking in top form, but it was no surprise when they took the lead on the quarter hour mark through Jack Chaloner. He added a superb second just before half-time when controlling a difficult ball, turning and finishing from the corner of the box with a quite sublime finish into the top corner.
Buckley continued to play some neat football and tested Tom Belton in the Borras goal a couple of times, but the greater physical presence of Borras began to reap rewards and they added further goals from Stephen Jones and Niall Challoner to ensure the trophy went to Borras Park Albion. The Cup was presented by Mr. and Mrs Brian Johnson who had donated the trophy.
Thanks to them and also to the catering staff at Brymbo for their excellent work over the last two nights. Special mention should be made to Paul Dodd's Buckley Town as most of the team are just 15 years old with a couple of boys still 14, so no doubt they will be back to try again next year. This should take nothing away from Andy Edwards' charges as they have proved to be the best team in North East Wales!!
