NEWFA CHALLENGE CUP

The Challenge Cup is the premier competition for clubs playing their football primarily on Saturdays and was donated by Wrexham Rural District Council. Together with the Horace Wynne Cup it was the first competition organised by the North East Wales F A and has been played for since Season 1969 - 1970. For 6 or 7 years in the 1980's the competition was sponsored by Goodwin's Dairy.

The town of Buckley features prominently in the history of the competition with teams from there winning the cup on 8 occasions. Pride of place must go to the current Buckley Town club who contested the final every season from 1999 - 2000 to 2005 - 2006 and winning 5 times out of those seven appearances.

Other Club's high on the list are Brymbo who have 6 wins and 5 runners up positions to their credit,
and Bala Town who have 3 wins and one runners up in the last 5 Season's.
